In this section I write essays related to the provinces other than Tokyo and Izu Peninsula. Therefore, it covers all areas from Hokkaido to Okinawa.
As I am a resident in Tokyo, the essays in this section tend to be tourist reports. However, I try to take up the stories of people living in Japanese provinces as much as possible and to report how they live and what they do. At the same time, I will try to tell you about the local history as much as I can, so that you can have some in-depth glance into our society.
Many visitors to Japan tend to visit only Tokyo and its suburbs. It is inevitable that their destinations are concentrated in the Tokyo area. Tokyo is the place where we can make most fascinating experiences, but very different from the rest of Japan. I hope that many foreigners would also know the charms of the Japanese provinces, where the essence of traditional Japan can be still discovered.
